Haymaker’s Punch
Haymaker’s punch is a old-fashioned farmhand drink, a nonalcoholic switchel traditionally made with water, apple cider vinegar, molasses, and ginger to refresh workers during haying season. This haymaker drink recipe updates the classic with our signature charred oak maple syrup and ginger citrus mixer for a tangy, lightly sweet punch that’s mixed ahead and chilled overnight. Top each glass with soda water or ginger ale for a fizzy finish.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup YCC Charred Oak & Maple Syrup
1.5 oz YCC Ginger Citrus Mixer
1.5 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
1/4 cup Molasses
6 cups Water
Top With: Soda Water or Ginger Ale (optional)
Garnish: Lemon Wedge (optional)
Steps:
1. Combine all ingredients (except soda water and garnish) in a large punch bowl or pitcher, stir well.
2. Let sit overnight in the fridge.
3. When ready to serve, ladle into highball glasses with fresh ice. Top with soda water or ginger ale, garnish and enjoy!
Prep time: 10 minutes (Chill time: 8 hours)
Yield: 8
Glassware: Highball or Rocks
Substitutions: Try this with our Ginger Snap Mixer during the holidays! Don’t have Molasses on hand? Try this with honey, or double the Charred Oak & Maple Syrup.
